It is my pleasure to inform you that the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) is now fully functional and will invite membership registration in due course. The council of directors and the executive committee is now duly constituted. The chairman of the institute is Hon Kenneth Marende, the former Speaker of the National assembly.

It is my pleasure to inform you also that our 50 hour Professional Mediation training program is now enhanced and contains new extra content. We have included new and more recent and relevant content to the ever evolving conflict scenarios in our African context and in tandem with current international standards for professional mediation training. Thanks to Professor Gregorio Billikopf for his permission to use his program as part of the new program among other contributors. Our new program has now been submitted to the International Standards Committee. In MTI (I) East Africa, We don’t compromise on quality, We believe in excellence.

Our 5 Day advanced mediation training certification program is now scheduled for the 2nd to the 6th of July 2018 at Nairobi Safari club. The training will be conducted by three seasoned International mediation trainers with decades of mediation training experience. Professor Dwight Golann , Professor  of  Law at Suffolk University in Boston and a Distinguished Fellow of the International Academy Mediators, Eugene C. Moscovitch, ESQ, Immediate Past President of the International Academy of Mediators and James Mang’erere Master mediation trainer and a Distinguished fellow of the International Academy Mediators, See more in our website.

We are currently not collaborating with any institution in mediation training. Apart from those listed below whom We train for in Professional Mediation.

  1. FIDA Kenya
  2. Mount Kenya university
  3. PAC university
  4. The Kenya school of law
  5. Family wellness Centre.

We will run our new programs in collaborations with these institutions. If any institution comes on board in future, we will notify the public accordingly.

We will be launching New training Manuals and Modules in April this year .They are comprehensive, easy to read and relevant to our local African context and conflict situations, though they can also be used internationally across all cultures.

We have partnered with the Legal Resource Foundation Trust (LRFT) to produce local Mediation Videos (acted by our local Kenyan artists) to be used in our training and also to sensitize the public about the mediation process. The videos will be launched in a ceremony where you will all be invited.

The refresher course slated to take place on 30th March 2018 may not take off because the date will be a public holiday. You will be notified of another date in due course.

In Collaboration with a number of international institutions, We have now launched Brand New Certification courses..

  1. Fifty-Hour Weekend professional  Mediation Training(Comprehensive Eight-Session Skill-Building program held on Weekends only)
  2. 5 day Advanced Mediation Skill Development: Mediating Complex, multi-party , multi-issue  Disputes and Perfecting Our Craft- for experienced professional mediators who have practiced for more than two years and have handled more than 20 matters in over 200 hours . After training all candidates will be subjected to a qualifying assessment program. This program will offered by two Distinguished Fellows of the international academy of Mediators and experienced international trainers with decades of mediation training experience from the USA and Kenya.
  3. 1 day ADR Training for Lawyers-Developing the Skills and Knowledge Lawyers will need to Effectively Represent Clients in ADR Processes.
  4. Comprehensive and advanced Family mediation training.
  5. Peer mediation training- a program for student leaders 
  6. 40 hour Commercial Mediation training
  7. Eviction Mediation training (Designed for mediators interested in helping tenants and landlords resolve housing and eviction disputes.)
  8. Master Negotiation skills workshops.
  9. Church/Faith based Mediation training ( New and Comprehensive 3 day program)
  10.  MTI quarterly round table seminars (These Quarterly seminars provide practicing professional mediators with an opportunity to strengthen their mediation skills and build their practice by learning from seasoned presenters and interacting with colleagues).

The process of registration with NITA is also ongoing.

In order to maintain the high standards of the mediators trained and certified by MTI International East Africa, there is a requirement that one must attend at least one refresher course per year or one quarterly round table seminar. For those that have not attended refresher courses for a while, please ensure you attend the next one .Please ensure you are in good standing. We encourage all our professional mediators to apply for accreditation to MAC this years, our program officers are on standby to give you any assistance that you require.
