Greetings to all Professional mediators in East Africa. I hope this press release finds you well and safe.

OUR NEW LOCATION

This is to notify all our students and members that MTI E.A offices are now located at Jeevan Bharati building 5^th floor. Under one roof, we are housing MTI E.A training wing, MTI E.A Mediation center, MTI International Mediation Library and ICMC offices. Come and find all services under one roof in the City center.

NOTICE

SELECTION TO THE PANEL OF THE MEDIATION CENTER

MTI E.A Mediation centre is now operational; The Centre provides case administrative services and acts as an intermediary between the parties and the mediator. Mediation under Centre Rules and Procedures is voluntary: The parties decide whether or not to mediate, the selection of the Mediator, and whether or not to settle and on what terms.

For those mediators who are willing to join our roster, The procedures have slightly changed. You will fill in the mediator application for inclusion form and then you will file with the centre an affirmative reply to request to join roster. You will fill in and sign  a mediator qualification statement in a format provided by the centre and finally you will sign the mediator roster agreement before your name is entered into the centre roster. We want to attract the finest in the market reasons being that we are aiming at both local and international customers. Those appointed to our roster will be subjected to a strict code of conduct. This roster is open to mediators in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda Tanzania other countries keen on practicing both in person and online mediation.

The process of constituting a roster will take us one month after which we will call for a meeting with all mediators in our roaster both physical and online for planning purposes. We are working with a global ADR company from India who will assist us a lot in getting online customers. Stay tuned for more.

NEW DESIGN WEBSITE

Our website has been re-designed and will be relaunched in due course.  A participant will now be able to register and pay online without visiting our offices, We intend to launch a mediation E- library, an online magazine and many other online services.

MEDIATION ADVOCACY TRAINING FOR LAWYERS

Mediation Training Institute East Africa (MTI) has collaborated with Edwards Mediation Academy and the law society of Kenya Nairobi branch to offer Professional Mediation Advocacy Training.

The EMA Mediation Advocacy course is for advocates who would like to expand their range of professional services to include successfully representing their clients in mediation.  Mediation advocacy differs from traditional litigation advocacy and the advocate of today needs to master the skills to help their clients win at mediation. We build on your education, experience as a litigation advocate, and help you expand your skills in a new direction… one that will add value for your clients and your legal practice.

Learners can take the online portion of the courses in the convenience of their home or office, over a period of two months.  MTI instructors will lead subsequent two-hour face-to-face discussion and mediation coaching sessions after specific modules on Saturday or Sunday afternoons, based on individual student schedules and needs.

MEDIATION LIBRARY

The mediation library is open for use to all certified professional mediators in our roaster. It is free. We do not lend out books.  Members can only read and return. This will continue for a while until we get a full time librarian to manage the borrowing. We encourage all the mediators to make use of the library to expand their knowledge in mediation. The Library is now located at Jeevan Bharat house 5^th floor, opposite electricity house , Harambee avenue Nairobi

IMI Certified Mediators and Mediation Advocates are able to be included in IMI’s ‘Find a Mediator’ search engine. This search engine, like all of the work of IMI, is entirely donation-funded, and the annual listing contributions paid by IMI Certified Mediators and Mediation Advocates is essential to the ongoing operations of IMI. Below are ten good reasons to have your IMI Certified profile listed with IMI.

1. You benefit from IMI’s global brand

IMI is the international standard-setting body for mediation, and being listed as ‘IMI Certified’ means that you are part of an international group of elite mediators.  IMI is uniquely able to endorse professional competency through certification, because IMI is not a provider of mediation services.  IMI Certified professionals can use their direct profile links and special IMI logos when marketing themselves, to indicate the high quality of their practice when compared to peers.
